Access & transit
Lumpini Park is in the Pathum Wan district and is convenient to reach by public transit, letting you bypass the city’s heavy road traffic.
MRT Blue Line
Si Lom Station Exit 1 is about a minute’s walk from Gate 4, the southwest entrance by the King Rama VI statue. Lumphini Station Exit 3 is at the park’s southeast corner, by Gate 2.
BTS Skytrain
Take the Silom Line to Sala Daeng Station, which is also linked to MRT Si Lom by the Silom skywalk. From the station it is about a 6-minute walk to Gate 4, the southwest gate by the King Rama VI statue.
Public bus routes
Bus routes reported on the roads around the park in December 2022 include 4, 13, 15, 45, 47, 50, 62, 67, 76, 77, 141, 505, 514 and A3. Route numbers may have changed since, so check the ViaBus app or Google Maps before you travel.
The Green Bridge (สะพานเขียว)
Reopened on 1 May 2026 (full route opened for trial use; a first section opened on 30 November 2025) after being renovated, this elevated 1.6 kilometer path for pedestrians and bicycles connects the northeast corner of Lumpini Park to Benjakitti Park.
Parking facilities
Parking inside the park is limited. The former car park on the Witthayu (Wireless) Road side was turned into the Lumpini Dog Park in early 2026, so come by MRT or BTS if you can.
Park entrances & gates
The park has seven numbered gates. Gate 4, at the King Rama VI Monument where Rama IV, Si Lom and Ratchadamri roads meet, is the closest gate to MRT Si Lom Exit 1 and BTS Sala Daeng. Gates 2 and 3 on Rama IV Road are served by MRT Lumphini Exit 3 and MRT Si Lom Exit 1. Gate 5 on Ratchadamri Road, by the Hawker Centre, is also reached from MRT Si Lom and BTS Sala Daeng. Gates 6 and 7 on Sarasin Road are about 10 minutes on foot from BTS Ratchadamri. Gate 1 on Wireless Road is about 2 minutes from Lumpini Dog Park and the Green Bridge.
Park Rules & Code of Conduct
These rules come from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), which manages the park, and from national law. They protect the park’s environment and keep it safe and quiet for everyone.
Restricted cycling hours
You can only ride bicycles in the park between 10:00 AM and 03:00 PM. Please ride slowly and give way to people on foot.
Strict smoking ban
Smoking is banned everywhere in the park. If you are caught smoking, you face a fine of up to 5,000 THB under the Tobacco Products Control Act.
No dogs outside the dog park
Dogs are not allowed in the park, except certified guide dogs and dogs in the fenced Lumpini Dog Park on the Wireless Road side (near Gate 1).
Do not feed the wildlife
Please do not feed the monitor lizards or pigeons. Feeding changes how the animals behave.
No alcohol
Drinking alcohol in a public park is an offence under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, punishable by up to 6 months in jail, a fine of up to 10,000 THB, or both.
No unauthorized drones
Under national rules, drones must be registered with the NBTC and CAAT, and pilots need third-party insurance. Ask the park office before flying in the park.

Is there an entrance fee for Lumpini Park?
No, the park is free to enter for both Thai citizens and foreign visitors.
Are there public restrooms inside the park?
Yes, there are public restrooms at several points around the park; the map shows the main ones.
Can I bring my dog to Lumpini Park?
Dogs are not allowed in the park itself, except certified guide dogs. You can take your dog to the Lumpini Dog Park on the Wireless Road side (near Gate 1), where fenced zones are split by dog size and dogs can run off the leash.
Can you rent a bicycle inside Lumpini Park?
Anywheel bike-share bikes can be rented through the Anywheel app at a station near the MRT Si Lom side of the park; otherwise, bring your own bike. Cycling inside the park is only allowed from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM. You can also ride on the Green Bridge, an elevated walking and cycling path to Benjakitti Park, during its opening hours.
How do I walk or cycle from Benjakitti Park to Lumpini Park?
You can walk or cycle between the two parks via the Green Bridge (สะพานเขียว), a 1.6 kilometer elevated pedestrian walkway and bicycle path. On the Lumpini side it starts at the northeast corner of the park, where Witthayu (Wireless) Road meets Sarasin Road. It is open daily from 06:00 AM to 06:00 PM and takes about 20 to 30 minutes to walk.
Is Lumpini Park worth visiting?
Yes. Lumpini Park is Thailand's first public park. It is free to enter, open daily from 04:30 AM to 10:00 PM, and has a few things that are hard to find elsewhere in the city: free-roaming Asian water monitor lizards, a 2.5 km running loop, swan boats on the lake, Bangkok's first public library, and the free Concert in the Park series on winter Sundays. Even a short one-hour walk around the lake is worth it if you are staying in Silom, Sathorn, or Ratchadamri.
Is Lumpini Park safe at night?
The park is closed at night: it closes at 10:00 PM and reopens at 04:30 AM, so there is no access inside overnight. For emergencies, call the Tourist Police on 1155, who can help in English, or 1669 for an ambulance.
Is Lumpini Park open at night?
No. The park closes at 10:00 PM daily and reopens at 04:30 AM the next morning. If you want an evening visit, arrive by 8:00 PM to give yourself time to walk the loop before closing. The surrounding streets, restaurants, and the BMA Hawker Centre at Gate 5 (open until Midnight) stay open later.
How long does it take to walk around Lumpini Park?
The main paved loop around the park is 2.5 km (about 1.5 miles). At a leisurely walking pace it takes 30 to 35 minutes, or about 15 minutes if you jog.
How big is Lumpini Park?
Lumpini Park covers 360 rai, which is about 57.6 hectares (142 acres). To put that in perspective, it is roughly the size of 80 international football pitches. The main running and walking loop around the park is 2.5 km.
Is Lumpini Park a good area to stay in?
It can be. The park lies in the heart of Bangkok’s main business district, bordered by Ratchadamri Road, Rama IV Road and Witthayu (Wireless) Road, with MRT and BTS stations around it. One Bangkok is across Wireless Road, and our hotel and restaurant guides list options nearby. Keep in mind that it is a business district rather than a nightlife area.
Is there luggage storage near Lumpini Park?
We could not confirm a left-luggage service inside the park, so plan to leave large bags elsewhere. Luggage-storage apps such as Radical Storage list drop-off points around Bangkok, with prices from about 86 THB per bag per day as of October 2026 plus a per-bag guarantee fee. Check locations and prices in the app before you go.
Is there parking at Lumpini Park?
Parking is limited. The former car park on the Witthayu (Wireless) Road side near Gate 1 was turned into the Lumpini Dog Park in early 2026, and we could not confirm current parking spaces or fees inside the park. Coming by MRT or BTS is the easier option.
